About White Large egg prices (national)
This is the USDA National Shell Egg Index for large white eggs, the 5-day rolling weighted-average FOB price and the best free public benchmark for the shell-egg market, for eggs sold loose (not cartoned) and priced free-on-board at the plant, in cents per dozen. The institutional trade prices most of its contracts off the private Expana (Urner Barry) assessments, and this is the free public read alongside them. Because it is a 5-day weighted average rather than a single day's quote, a sharp move builds over several report days; the figure shown is the exact value USDA publishes for that date. This series began in early 2025, so a five-year normal is not yet available; week-over-week and year-over-year are the reliable reads.
