Medium White Conventional Jumps 62% to 23.4 Cents on the Week

National shell-egg prices moved sharply higher across most categories on the week, with medium white conventional loose leading at 23.4 cents per dozen, up 62.4% from 14.4 cents (USDA). The national large white conventional benchmark stood at 24.4 cents per dozen as of June 23, per USDA. APHIS reports no egg-layer HPAI detections in the past 60 days, putting the supply-side focus on inventory: Northwest conventional stocks came in at 42.5 thousand cases, 40% below their five-year median.

• Large white cage-free loose, national: 34.0 cents/doz, up 47.8% from 23.0 cents on the week (USDA). The cage-free premium over the large white conventional benchmark is 9.6 cents per dozen (40%).
• Large brown cage-free loose, national: 20.0 cents/doz, up 42.9% from 14.0 cents (USDA).
• Medium white cage-free loose, national: 24.9 cents/doz, up 29.4% from 19.3 cents (USDA).
• Extra large brown cage-free loose, national: 45.0 cents/doz, up 28.6% from 35.0 cents (USDA).
• California medium white, delivered store door: 54.5 cents/doz, up 14.7% from 47.5 cents (USDA). This series has not updated in over two weeks. Treat as stale.

U.S. total shell egg inventory stood at 1,410 thousand cases as of June 22, 3.6% below the trailing four-week average (USDA). The Northwest is the tightest pocket at 42.5 thousand cases, 40% below its five-year median. The Southwest runs counter at 139 thousand cases, 27% above its five-year median. On the demand side, 504 stores featured national large white 12-count cartons at $1.42 the week of June 22 (USDA), consistent with normal shoulder-season feature activity.
